Join us for an afternoon of artmaking and in-gallery fun as we celebrate Pride this month! Bring the whole family to enjoy a day strolling through our galleries before making a stop in our classrooms for a hands-on drop in artmaking project led by Armando Garcia, the founder of Queer Craft Corner NWA.
Afterwards, head over to our ArtCart between 1 and 3 pm and join our ArtCart Guide in taking a closer look at Keith Haring’s iconic Two-Headed Figure sculpture. Take a moment to join Armando Garcia at 1:00 pm for a gallery talk inspired by their connection to art within our permanent collection and calling upon your inner child. Armando will guide participants through mindful prompts and invite guests back to our classrooms to take part in drop in art making!
Free, no tickets required. Feel free to drop in throughout the day!

About the Artist
Armando Garcia
My name is Armando Garcia, and I am absolutely thrilled to share a bit of my journey with you. I am a proud Mexican American, born and raised in the vibrant community of Orange County. My professional background lies in marketing, but my true passion has always been in the world of art and crafts.
As the founder of Queer Craft Corner NWA, I have the incredible privilege of bringing art and crafts to the effervescent queer community in Northwest Arkansas. Our mission is rooted in creating a safe and inviting space that encourages creativity and meaningful connections through the power of art and crafts. It fills my heart with pride to call this beautiful natural state my home, where the creativity of our community flourishes.
Thank you for this wonderful opportunity to bring you a gallery talk. I can’t wait to create magic together and see how our collective passion for art can transform and uplift. Let’s inspire each other and continue to build a vibrant, supportive community!

Guests can work at their own pace as Queer Craft Corner and Crystal Bridges teaching artists guide simple embossing and punching techniques inspired by historic Americana craft. Choose to make one project or try both: create a decorative embossed metal ornament or plaque to commemorate America 250 or something special about your life.
As always, you’ll have a chance to create a special artwork to put inside a small frame and add to your gallery wall. This month will experiment with shimmery paints, markers, and bits of metal scrap to create lustrous scrapyard compositions.
With a welcoming, comeβandβgo atmosphere and a cash bar, Studio Socials are meant to encourage creativity, conversation, while creating something meaningful to take home.

Bring Your Own Tote! Inspired by the textiles featured in American 250, this Studio Social invites you to breathe new life into your beloved tote bags with hand-stitched embellishments. Led by quilting artist Linda Pumphrey, you’ll master the art of combining patchwork fabric, simple embroidery, and decorative touches like buttons and stitching, transforming any tote into a one-of-a-kind creation. Bring your own tote or use one of ours.
Studio Socials are more than just workshops—they’re creative nights out designed for connection and exploration. With a laid-back, drop-in style and a cash bar, these events make art fun and accessible. Whether you come with friends or fly solo, you’ll find a welcoming space to experiment, socialize, and leave with something handmade and uniquely yours.
**** We'll also experiment with the technique on watercolor paper, as usual, so you'll leave with a framed art piece you've created. Just incase you don’t have a tote we gotchu with another project ***
Queer Craft Corner family, we’re so grateful to have shared this creative evening with you all! A huge thank you to Crystal Bridges for hosting us and to Rachel Borntrager, our amazing drop-in artist. Your support means the world to us! @crystalbridgesmuseum @rachelborntragerart
Greetings, Friends!!! β¨οΈ
We warmly invite you to join us on Saturday, March 14th, from 11 AM to 3 PM at the Crystal Bridges America 250 opening celebration! β€οΈπ€π We're thrilled to bring an arts and crafts workshop to this exciting event, where we'll be embracing America's vibrant diversity by creating our very own flags. Imagine if you could fly your own flag—what would it look like? You'll have the chance to design your very own canvas flag! π³ππ¨
Our second project is inspired by childhood memories of museum visits, where I often wanted a souvenir but couldn’t always afford one. With that in mind, we’ve created a workshop where everyone can craft their own handmade souvenirs. Come and make a special button with us to commemorate America 250 grand opening.
We can't wait to see you there! π No ticket purchase is necessary on our end. Just head to the museum on the day of the event and look for our Queer Craft Corner sign. β¨οΈπβ¨οΈ
